The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ Collegiate Fellow is awarded to a senior faculty member who demonstrates distinction in teaching, scholarship, and exceptional leadership.

During each College of Liberal Arts and Sciences commencement ceremony, graduates will hear an address from a peer who will reflect on their shared experience as Hawkeyes, while also looking toward the future.

Vishuka Pathirana, a second-year doctoral student in chemistry at the University of Iowa, addresses global issues by starting at the molecular level. With an emphasis on organic chemistry, Pathirana focuses on worldwide food sustainability by developing compounds to increase crop yield.
