CLAS scholarship applications for the 2026-2027 academic year
All annual CLAS undergraduate scholarship applications are located on the Iowa Scholarship Portal. When the application period is opened, you can see which scholarships you quality for, as well as a list of CLAS specific scholarships. Please check this website for upcoming opening Scholarship Portal dates.
- To see a list of CLAS specific scholarships set the filter to "College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
- For all CLAS auto-match scholarships, only the submission of the General Application is required.
- Check your portal dashboard often as there may be recommended "apply to" opportunities that will require an additional application submission.
CLAS undergraduate honors and research scholarships
Undergraduate honors and research scholarships are available for currently enrolled undergraduate students in a College of Liberal Arts & Sciences degree granting program. These scholarships each have their own application process which is explained on it's scholarship page.

Additional department scholarships within CLAS
Many departments within CLAS offer specific scholarships and funding opportunities for students pursuing their majors. Please visit the undergraduate programs section of the department website for the specific major you are studying for more information.
Application period and award announcements
Entering first time, first year students
The application period for entering first time, first year scholarships is Sept. 2, 2025 through Jan. 18, 2026. Applications submitted after Jan. 18 will not be considered. The CLAS Scholarship award winners will be notified and announced on our website on or before Feb. 16, 2026.
Current CLAS undergraduate students
The application period for current CLAS undergraduate students is Nov. 15, 2025 through Feb. 1, 2026. Applications submitted after Feb. 1 will not be considered. The CLAS Scholarship award winners will be notified and announced on our website on or before March 16, 2026.
FAFSA reminders
- If you are a new incoming first year student or new transfer student, be sure to have your 2026-2027 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) completed and submitted to the Office of Student Financial Aid. The application will be available to all students by Oct. 1, 2025.
- All financial need-based scholarships require completion of the FAFSA for consideration.
