During each CLAS commencement ceremony, graduates will hear an address from a peer who will reflect on their shared experience as a Hawkeye, while also looking toward the future.

The award provides funding and development opportunities for outstanding tenured associate professors who have established national or international reputations in their disciplines and are exceptional teachers in and outside the classroom.

The enthusiasm and commitment to student success demonstrated by these individuals highlights the crucial role teaching assistants play in the university’s teaching mission.

Each recipient has a minimum of six years’ teaching experience at Iowa and will receive a $1,000 honorarium.

The study itself sprang from a graduate-level bioinformatics class at Iowa.
