From literary agents to filmmakers, the Industry Professionals in the Arts and Humanities program gives students direct access to the professionals shaping today's creative industries. 

Through internships, coursework, and cultural immersion, these CLAS students discovered new perspectives and meaningful learning experiences that extended far beyond campus.

During McTernan’s spring 2026 Fantastic Drawing Machines class, art students experimented with designing weird kinetic art objects, ultimately creating drawings and mock-ups for their own “fantastic drawing machines.” The project is a collaboration between McTernan and Ina Holfelder, professor of mechanical design and machine elements at Berliner Hochschule für Technik.

The student-run agency in CLAS's School of Journalism and Mass Communication allows students to collaborate with paying clients and nonprofit organizations while gaining hands-on industry experience.
