The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has announced the recipients of its prestigious awards for faculty who received a promotion to tenured associate professor and full professor, and to associate professor and full professor of instruction.

The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is honoring 11 faculty and staff for their exceptional contributions to research, scholarship, and creative activity as part of the 2024 Discovery and Innovation Awards.

E Cram, associate professor with joint appointments in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, received the Karl Wallace Memorial Award. The award will allow Cram to continue their research on the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm.

Kenneth Tse, professor of saxophone in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences’ School of Music, has been named a 2024 University of Iowa Distinguished Chair.

Dale Stille, an Instructional Resource Specialist in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, was recognized as a Fellow of the American Physical Society.

Associate professor Robert Cargill is a strong believer in public education and ongoing learning opportunities, which is one of the reasons why he’s been sharing his expertise with major networks for more than 20 years.

Associate Professor David Miles has received a $33,947 award from NASA for the Multi-Mission MAGnetometer Denoising and Sensor Resiliency through Statistical Decomposition and ARtificial Intelligence (MAGSTAR) project.
