Ryan Kaduce
Ryan is an academic advisor who works with Human Physiology and Exercise Science majors in the Department of Health, Sport, and Human Physiology. Ryan has been a Hawkeye since 2004–as an undergrad student, grad student, faculty member, and now staff member. He earned his BA with Highest Distinction, double majoring in Linguistics and Anthropology. He then stayed at Iowa to earn his MA in Linguistics. Ryan spent a year working abroad in Cambodia and China before returning to Iowa City to teach in English as a Second Language Programs at the University of Iowa for thirteen years. Though his role at the university has changed over the years, his commitment to supporting student success continues.
His main goals in advising are to make sure all students feel that they are welcome and that their advising appointments are a productive, efficient use of their time. He views academic advising as a collaborative, safe environment where students can reflect on their goals and plan accordingly.
Ryan lives in Coralville with his wife, son, and dog. He enjoys going on nature walks, whittling, and adding to his modest collection of oddities and curiosities. Ryan also considers himself to be somewhat of a “chilihead” as he enjoys extremely spicy food and is always looking out for new hot sauces to try.
