Matthew Rhodes
Matt Rhodes is a senior academic advisor for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and works with criminology and sociology students. Before moving to the Department of Sociology and Criminology, Matt worked with first-year students in the Advising Center. He got his start at Iowa working in the Trio program.
Matt earned his PhD in Comparative Education from the University of Pittsburgh while teaching in the Latin American Studies program. Previous to advising, he worked in international education programs at Pitt, leading programs to Central and South America. During times living in DC, Pittsburgh, and Iowa, Matt taught English classes to various groups of newly arrived English learners. As an advisor, he enjoys talking widely with students about their interests and working with them to successfully navigate their major and time at Iowa.
Outside of advising, Matt loves coaching youth sports, playing soccer, reading and talking about current events, as well as working on house projects.
