Kate Torno
Kate Torno, MA is a senior academic advisor at the University of Iowa, where she supports undergraduate students in the Department of English and works closely with the faculty and administration to develop programs and a curriculum that serves student development.
With over 25 years of experience working in higher education, Kate has worked for TRIO programs, Career Services, Academic Support, Disabilities Services and Residence Life on campuses in three states. Her degree in Counseling: College Student Development has led to a holistic approach when working with students.
Kate is recognized for her focus on career development within the liberal arts and using her insights as both a parent of college age students and her tracking of alumni results to help current students reach their goals. She received her bachelor's degree in English from the same department and it's been a joy to be back at the University of Iowa since 2014. She is grateful to have received the Lola Lopez Award for Undergraduate Student Advocacy in 2024.
