Since 2019, Andy Tinkham has served as an academic advisor for the Political Science Department. Andy is committed to supporting students' academic success, professional development, and personal growth.

Prior to his current role, Andy advised students in a number of departments and programs, including Interdepartmental Studies, Sociology and Criminology, Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Studies, History, Journalism, the Tippie College of Business, and the Academic Advising Center. This diverse background has equipped him with a broad understanding of interdisciplinary education and student needs across the liberal arts and beyond.

Andy earned his BA in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and his MA in Student Development in Postsecondary Education from the University of Iowa. His advising philosophy centers on empowering students to make informed decisions, explore academic and internship opportunities, and engage meaningfully with their educational journeys.
