Lynne Lanning is a senior academic advisor for the School of Art, Art History, and Design, where she helps students navigate their academic, career, and creative journeys. A passion for advising in art started at home. After watching both of her daughters thrive as art majors at the University of Iowa, Lynne saw firsthand how powerful a creative education can be. 

With a BS in Nursing and a law degree, Lynne brings a broad, interdisciplinary perspective to her advising. She works closely with students to understand their goals and guide them toward coursework and experiences that support their academic and career aspirations. Having followed a winding career path, Lynne understands that growth often happens in the liminal spaces—those moments of transition and uncertainty where new directions are conceived. Lynne encourages students to explore new opportunities, work hard, and never let a challenge keep you from pursuing your goal.
