Portrait of Kimberly Gray

The CLAS Grant Support Office (GSO) is pleased to welcome Kimberly Gray as our new post-award grant manager for the Department of Physics and Astronomy, the college’s top department for external grants and contracts. The Department of Physics and Astronomy boasts a research portfolio of $27 million in fiscal year 2025.

Kimberly joined the GSO in July 2025 after working for the Department of the Interior as a grants management specialist for the Bureau of Land Management’s Idaho State Office. Prior to that, she spent more than 15 years at Augusta University in Augusta, GA, where she worked in research administration and academic assessment, and taught in the Master of Public Administration program.

Originally from northeast Ohio, Kimberly and her young son live in West Branch. She enjoys watching Iowa women’s basketball, volleyball, and other women’s sports; playing softball, and spending time with friends.

Kimberly brings a wealth of experience to the GSO, and we are excited to see the positive impact that she will have supporting our Physics and Astronomy faculty.

“I am most excited to work on campus and to get to know the faculty and my coworkers in the GSO and CLAS,” Gray said. “Having even a small impact supporting faculty in their research and their success is very fulfilling and enjoyable to me.”
