Registration for the summer 2024 and fall 2024 sessions is coming up quickly! This can be stressful, but with the right preparation, you won’t need to worry. 

Follow these five tips from academic advisors in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to ensure you are ready to register.

Know the timeline

Prepare now for both summer and fall registration. Register on time to have the best selection of classes. Consider adding your registration date(s) to your calendar.

• Summer registration: Registration opens March 4-8. Check MyUI now for your individual day and time.
• Fall registration: Registration opens April 8-26. Check MyUI after March 4 for your individual day and time.

Address any registration holds

Prior to registering, you will need to clear any registration holds. These holds might include an unsigned student agreement, overdue u-bill, and missing transcripts or student health records. Log in to MyUI and review your notifications to see if you have registration holds.

Consult the experts

Meet with your advisor to ensure your plan stays on track. Schedule your advising appointment and reach out with questions today so that you are ready to put your plan into action at registration time.

Advising appointments fill quickly. If you need advisor authorization to register, visit advising appointments in MyUI to schedule a time with your primary advisor or to find drop-in times.

Make the most of your meeting

Before meeting with your advisor, request a new degree audit in MyUI and review your remaining requirements. Read course descriptions and review general education options. Bring a proposed schedule (you can use the schedule builder tool) with specific courses and potential alternates, as well as a list of any questions you have for your advisor.

Check your work

After registering, take time to double-check your schedule in MyUI under the Courses/Registration tab. Request and review an updated degree audit to ensure your new courses are showing up where they should, and contact your advisor if you notice any issues. If you aren’t able to get your first-choice classes, get on a waitlist and enroll in alternative courses.
