Interested in Museum work?

Attend the Museum Career Trek on Friday, Feb. 2.This is an opportunity to visit local museums to learn more about organization operations, positions available, and network with professional staff. Stops include Brucemore, the History Center, and the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library & Museum. Transportation provided by the Career Center. Learn more and register

Register your internship with the Career Center for transcript notation or course credit.

  • Career assessments
    Did you know the Career Center offers a variety of career assessments? If you’re unsure of your current major or an open major, a career assessment can be a great way to identify your interests and potential career fits.  
  • Job searching
    Utilize Handshake for all your search needs! Handshake provides access to campus jobs, local part-time jobs, internships, and full-time positions. Activate your account, upload your resume, and publish your profile as soon as you can. Thousands of employers use Handshake each day to post positions and recruit students like you! Tip – Make sure your profile is up to date with your current major, grad date, GPA, etc.
  • Hawkeye Experience Grants 
    If you are planning on interning with a non-profit or government organization this summer you may be eligible for a  Hawkeye Experience Grant which allows students to apply for up to $4,000 to help defray the cost of a summer experience. Internships with for-profit organizations, internships abroad, research, creative, and community engagement experiences may also be eligible. Applications deadlines in March and April. Learn more!
  • Career coaching 
    The career center offers a team of friendly and knowledgeable Career Coaches are eager to meet with you as you explore your career interests and look for experiences to build your resume. Whether you’re wondering what career options exist for your major, searching for an internship, or wanting to improve your interview skills - we are here to help! You can schedule an appointment (either in-person or virtually) on MyUI.
  • Peer Advising
    For quick career assistance, meet with our awesome team of Peer Advisors during our drop-in hours of 10am-3pm, Monday – Thursday. The peers also offer virtual appointments throughout the week, including Friday. Our Peer Advisors can help you with starting your resume, reviewing a resume draft, and navigating Handshake and our website.
