The University of Iowa's new Visual Arts Building (VAB), home to the School of Art & Art History, has received year-end acclaim from architectural journalists and enthusiasts as among the world's best buildings completed in 2016.
- The Architect's Newspaper named VAB "2016 Best Building of the Year Midwest".
- Architectural Record included VAB among its "Top Ten Projects of 2016".
- Wired included VAB in an article titled, "25 Masterpieces That Prove 2016 Was An Incredible Year for Architecture".
In addition to these year-end accolades, VAB generated other national and international press earlier in the year around the time of its October 7, 2016, opening:
