Undergraduate students who wish to drop a course or withdraw from the fall 2022 semester need collegiate authorization to do so after the deadline.

  • If an undergraduate student wants to drop a CLAS course after the November 14 deadline, please refer them to CLAS Undergraduate Programs as soon as possible (clas-undergrad@uiowa.edu, 319-335-2633, 120 Schaeffer Hall).
  • Similarly, if an undergraduate student whose primary college of enrollment is CLAS wants to withdraw their fall 2022 registration after the deadline, please refer them to CLAS UP right away.
  • CLAS typically does not make exceptions to the drop or withdrawal deadline except in situations where the student has been seriously ill, has had a family emergency, or has been involved in a similar extenuating circumstance. In these cases, documentation is required for the College to approve a drop or withdrawal after the deadline.

New Process to Request a Late Drop or Late Withdrawal

Academic staff in CLAS UP have created workflow forms to streamline the petition process for late drops and late withdrawals. Directions for students who wish to drop a course may be found here.

Directions for students who would like to withdraw after the deadline may be found here.
