Effective July 1, 2022, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Academic Programs and Student Development will be renamed CLAS Undergraduate Programs (CLAS UP) to better reflect the range of activities and services the academic staff in this office support.

The mission of CLAS UP is to support CLAS undergraduate students through graduation and to help faculty and instructors carry out the undergraduate academic mission of the College. CLAS UP is the central hub in CLAS for collegiate academic advising and student services related to academic policies and the development and oversight of the undergraduate curriculum, including the CLAS Core general education program and all majors, minors, and certificates. CLAS UP coordinates recruitment activities for prospective incoming first-year and transfer students and supports the annual distribution and competition for CLAS scholarships. CLAS UP also collaborates closely with campus partners across the University to support undergraduate students.

Please update any references to the former name you may have in print and online materials, including web pages, MAUI, and MyUI.

  • CLAS UP location: 120 Schaeffer Hall
  • CLAS UP office hours: 8 am-4:30 pm (Monday through Friday)
  • Our academic staff are available to meet with students, staff, and instructors in person or via phone or zoom.
  • Student drop-in time (Fall 2022): 1-2 pm Monday through Thursday academic staff are available for short meetings or consultations.
  • Students can use their MyUI account to make an appointment (selecting College Office), and our office staff can also be reached at 319-335-2633 and clas-undergrad@uiowa.edu.
  • Instructors and staff should feel free to contact us at any time with questions.
