Executive Vice President and Provost Barry Butler and Faculty Senate President Christina Bohannan have announced the call for nominations for the 2015 Regents Award for Faculty Excellence.

I encourage you to nominate outstanding faculty members in your department or program for this important honor.  You or another senior faculty member should write the nomination statement.  This award honors tenured faculty members with distinguished records of achievement and provides a $1,000 one-time stipend.  The nomination should include:

  • A description of the process used to select the nominee,
  • A nomination statement that speaks to all areas of faculty endeavor (teaching scholarship, service) even if the nominee is being nominated for outstanding  accomplishments in fewer areas
  • A current curriculum vitae
  • Two letters of support from faculty in the department or college.

Past recipients of the Regents Award for Faculty Excellence and guidelines for nominations are listed on this link http://provost.uiowa.edu/regents-award-faculty-excellence.  Nominations of outstanding women and minority faculty members are encouraged.

The associate deans and I will select up to four collegiate nominees from among the nominations received.

Regents Award winners are honored at the Faculty and Staff Awards Banquet. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences also honors Regents Award winners at the College's Faculty Honors Celebration.

Since the College's deadline to forward its nominations is February 19, I ask that you submit the nominations electronically to Brenda Gritsch by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5.

Thank you.
