With the Spring 2016 semester beginning, it is time again to remind you all of the new CLAS requirement for CV submission for merit raises this year.

The APR will need to be updated with activities through the end of calendar year 2015 in order to be considered for a merit raise.  We will take into consideration that there have been challenges along the way, and the system is not what we would like to consider perfect.

The CLAS APR Team has worked tirelessly to help faculty finalize their APRs; the Team has also created a website with tools on how to get started, fast fixes for making the CLAS Administrative CV look better, and how to contact the CLAS APR Team with questions:

Points of clarification regarding APR activities and expectations include:

  • It is the Provost’s Office’s expectation that APR will be maintained on all regular tenure and clinical track faculty members.
  • Faculty who opted-in for help this past Spring and Summer are expected to review and edit the work done by the CLAS APR Team.  Additionally, opted-in faculty will need to enter their 2015 data by the March 4, 2016, due date.
  • Faculty who did not opt-in this past Spring or Summer are expected to bring their APRs up to the CLAS minimum history (five years) by the March 4, 2016, due date.
  • Since APR is not well-equipped to handle ACE evaluations as of today, please continue to attach a teaching table with ACE scores as you have done in years past, until we can rectify the matter.  You can find this table on our website, http://clas.uiowa.edu/faculty/faculty-appointments-review under ‘Forms and Documents.’
  • For opted-in faculty, Departmental Administrators and DEOs can access annotated CVs in N:\DeansOffice\CLAS Faculty CVs 2016.  They will find a “STRIKETHRU KEYS” subfolder with legends associated with the student working on each faculty’s APR.  In the Department subfolder “STRIKETHRU CVs,” annotated copies of the faculty member’s Spring 2015 CV will be found.  (For example, if “SK” was placed at the end of the faculty CV file name, it indicates the “SK-Legend” should be used to interpret the markings.  Likewise, a faculty CV file named with “TD” would use the “TD-Legend” to interpret the markings.) This extra layer of documentation may be helpful in understanding some of the limitations faced during data entry.

Thank you.
