ITS has reminded us multiple times about the two-step process required to login to the employee self-service page and MAUI.  UI has partnered with Duo Security to provide this second layer of authentication of the HawkID and password.

Use of two-step authentication ensures that a HawkID and password have not been compromised.

  • Starting on February 5, access to ICON will also require two-step authentication.
  • Please set up your two-step process now.
  • Visit this link for more information about two-step choices and how to enable them: https://its.uiowa.edu/support/article/106591 or https://apps.its.uiowa.edu/uip-tools/two-step/config
  • There are a number of choices for setting up this authentication process, with some more efficient to use routinely than others.
  • ITS recommends the use of the Duo “push option.” With Duo push, once the app is downloaded in the cell phone (or tablet etc.) and set up, the user simply clicks “approve” to complete the required authentication; there is no need to enter an additional code while logging into the computer.
  • Those without a device needed for two-step authentication may request a hardware token from the ITS Help Desk (319-384-4357).
  • If you have problems in the classroom logging on to ICON, please contact the ITS Help Desk (319-384-4357) for immediate help.

We appreciate your patience as we move forward with two-step authentication.
