Please encourage faculty in your unit to uphold the College's strong tradition of faculty governance by participating in the nomination processes for service on UI and CLAS governance bodies. These nomination processes are the only ways that candidates can be designated. Nominations are conducted electronically on secure websites.

NOTE:  Changes to the Manual of Policy and Procedure (approved April 26, 2017) that affect participation in CLAS faculty governance are as follows:

  • For the purpose of election, the voting faculty is now divided into four electoral Voting Groups. The Electoral Voting Groups include the Natural and Mathematical Sciences, the Social Sciences, the Humanities, and the Arts.
  • Instructional-track faculty at the ranks of lecturer, associate professor of instruction, and professor of instruction are eligible to nominate candidates for elected committees and to vote in collegiate elections.  Instructional-track faculty at the ranks of associate professor of instruction, and professor of instruction are eligible to serve on the Undergraduate Educational Policy and Curriculum Committee and the Faculty Assembly.

From Wednesday, January 24 through Wednesday, January 31, tenure-line and clinical-line faculty can nominate themselves or colleagues for election to the College's Executive Committee, Graduate Educational Policy Committee, Undergraduate Educational Policy and Curriculum Committee, and Faculty Assembly, as well as a CLAS seat on the Graduate Council.  Instructional-track faculty can nominate themselves or colleagues to the Undergraduate Educational Policy and Curriculum Committee and the Faculty Assembly.  Instructional-track faculty further can nominate tenure-line and clinical-line faculty for election to the College's Executive Committee, Graduate Educational Policy Committee, Undergraduate Educational Policy and Curriculum Committee, Faculty Assembly, as well as a CLAS seat on the Graduate Council.

Information on where faculty may go to cast ballots will be posted on the College web page and distributed through email after 8:00 AM Wednesday, January 24 as soon as the link is live.
