We are writing to announce the nomination process for the 2020-2021 Collegiate Teaching Awards. These awards are important for the individual winners, their departments, and for the College as a whole as an endorsement of the high value of excellent teaching in CLAS.

The Collegiate Teaching Awards recognize faculty for teaching excellence over a three-year period. All tenure-track, instructional track, and clinical-track faculty members holding a minimum 50% appointment, are eligible to be nominated. This award can only be won once, but previous nominees who did not receive an award are eligible for re-nomination.

  1. Departments may submit no more than one nomination. If you have not already done so, please propose your nominee by forwarding their name to Gabriella McDermott (gabriella-mcdermott@uiowa.edu)as soon as possible.
  2. The deadline for receipt of all nomination materials is Wednesday, February 9, 2022. The instructions for Nominations for the Collegiate Teaching Awards is located at http://clas.uiowa.edu/faculty/faculty-awards-memorials (Faculty Awards & Memorials).

Selection of six Collegiate Teaching Award winners will be made by the CLAS Teaching Awards Committee, and the Committee seeks a wide selection of nominations from across the college.

We encourage departments to use an inclusive nomination process involving a diverse and broadly representative group of students, faculty members, and administrators to identify outstanding faculty members with sustained records of teaching excellence and commitment to student learning.

Each award carries a $2,000 honorarium.
