The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) is accepting applications for the spring 2023 Arts and Humanities Initiative (AHI) program. This program encourages leading edge scholarship, creative activities and interdisciplinary research. The application deadline is Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

ELIGIBILITY

At the time of application, all UI personnel in the arts and humanities disciplines who are tenure-track or tenured faculty, clinical track faculty, research faculty, instructional faculty, and other staff members for whom research and scholarship are assigned as one of their primary job responsibilities and have at least a 50% university appointment during the academic year of the project are eligible to apply for funding.

The award is made to only one individual. Co-PIs are not allowed. Adjunct faculty, visiting faculty, postdoctoral fellows or scholars, associates, fellowship trainees, and graduate students are not eligible. An applicant may appear as PI/PD on only one proposal per application cycle but may be listed as a collaborator or consultant on other proposals.

APPLICATION PROGRAMS

1) AHI Standard Grant: Accepts individual or collaborative grant applications up to $7,500.

2) AHI Major Project Grant: Accepts applications up to $30,000 in support of preliminary work for highly innovative projects that impact the field, discipline, or broader community.

3) AHI Major Conference Grant: Accepts applications up to $10,000 in support of new conferences, symposia, seminars, colloquia or workshops.

Questions about writing an AHI application? Join RDO/OVPR virtually on Friday, February 10 from 10am-11am to learn about the Arts & Humanities Initiative (AHI) program, hear from past reviewers, and have your questions answered.  The AHI program is an internal funding program within the Office of the Vice President for Research that encourages leading edge scholarship, creative activities, and interdisciplinary research.  Next application deadline: Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
