The mission of CLAS Undergraduate Programs (CLAS UP) is to support CLAS undergraduate students through graduation and to help faculty and instructors carry out the undergraduate academic mission of the College. CLAS UP is the central hub in CLAS for collegiate academic advising and student services related to academic policies and oversees the undergraduate curriculum, including the CLAS Core general education program and all majors, minors, and certificates.

CLAS UP helps to coordinate recruitment activities for prospective incoming first-year and transfer students and supports the annual distribution and competition for CLAS scholarships. CLAS UP staff also collaborate closely with campus partners across the university to support undergraduate students.

Expanded Support for CLAS Advising Network
Diane Hauser, Director of CLAS Academic Advising, is excited to announce a restructuring of the CLAS Advising Network (CLASAN) that will better support and retain our undergraduate students, while also creating more sustainable workloads and career development opportunities for CLAS advising staff. On July 1, the college promoted two senior academic advisors to associate director of advising roles. Emma Kirk-Alvarez will provide oversight for advising in the STEM disciplines, and Andrea Krekel will provide oversight for advising in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.

The college will continue to expand its advising team and leadership over the next two years. These adjustments in leadership and hiring will help create a more sustainable advising structure that will better serve and retain our students.
