We are excited to welcome our newest students to campus with the CLAS Welcome Party, as part of the On Iowa! orientation programming.

Having talked with and surveyed numerous students, as well as our colleagues in Orientation Services and others around campus, we have determined that students are not looking for an academically oriented event during On Iowa! They have already met with their advisors and registered for classes, and they start classes in just a few days. Instead, they are eager to meet friends and feel welcomed into our UI/CLAS community.

With that in mind, we have replaced the CLAS Open House of the past few years with a new format, the Welcome Party. We will have two bands on the Pentacrest in front of Schaeffer Hall, with giveaways, prize drawings, Herky, cookies and lemonade, and other fun stuff.
