The NEW ICON is happening now! We would like to thank all of you who have already attended one of our 196 training opportunities concerning this transition to ICON powered by Canvas.

We are now offering more online and in-person training opportunities for those instructors who have not yet attended a Canvas training session or who would like more training on specific topics, such as managing grades and giving quizzes.

  • Do you need a test ICON course to work with?  Contact the IT Help Desk and one will be provided for you so you can learn about Canvas even if you are not using ICON this semester.

ONLINE TRAINING

Below are the links to online training sessions that mirror the hands-on training offered. These online sessions are great for those who prefer to learn on their own or who want to review certain topics.

HANDS-ON TRAINING

We are also offering more hands-on sessions. You may register for these in-person training sessions at http://teach.its.uiowa.edu/events/upcoming.

  • If you sign up for training and cannot make the session, please let the ITS Help Desk know so we can free up space for others.
  • If you get a notice that you are on a wait list, please be aware that we will try to accommodate you.
  • If you are on the wait list and the room is too full to add you, we have created “Bonus” sessions in another room close to the training room; just come to the UCC 2523 Training Room and we will find you a seat. You could also sign up for a session in the future or you can request an individual consult.
  • You are welcome to bring your own laptop.

DROP-IN STUDY HALLS

We are very excited about our new drop-in study halls for anyone wanting some individual help in a relaxed setting. Each study hall lasts two hours and is in UCC 2070E; you do not need to register in advance—just drop by. Study halls will be conducted by SITA, our wonderful “Student Instructional Technology Assistants.”
