Birrell named the 2018 recipient of the Jean Y. Jew Women’s Rights Award

Warmest congratulations to Susan Birrell, Professor of Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies and American Studies, who has been named the 2018 recipient of the Jean Y. Jew Women’s Rights Award. This award is made by the University of Iowa Women’s Resource and Action Center and the Council on the Status of Women in honor of Jew and others who demonstrate outstanding effort or achievement in improving the status of women on campus. In the announcement, the committee applauds Susan’s “work as a faculty member, mentor, and university citizen” noting that she “has served to quietly and consistently support the improvement of women’s experiences on The University of Iowa campus and beyond, and our organizations are proud to honor those achievements though this prestigious recognition.” The award will be conferred at the Celebration of Excellence and Achievement Among Women at the University of Iowa on April 4. The ceremony begins at 3:00 in the 2nd floor IMU Ballroom. Join us in celebrating this well-deserved honor!
