Texas State University - Tenure-track Assistant Professor

The Department of Geography at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Geomorphology to begin Fall 2018. We seek individuals with exceptional potential as scholars and teachers. The position includes teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, maintaining an active research agenda, and advising Masters/PhD students.

Required Qualifications:

  • A PhD degree in Geography, Earth/Environmental Sciences, or a related field, is required by time of appointment
  • A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching
  • Ability to teach introductory and advanced courses in geomorphology and physical geography
  • Ability to develop a strong and active research agenda in geomorphology
  • A demonstrated record of publishing peer-reviewed scholarship in geomorphology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to teach quantitative methods
  • Ability to teach field methods
  • A demonstrated record of seeking/securing external research grants

The Department of Geography at Texas State University has 37 full-time faculty members, over 600 undergraduate majors in BA and BS programs, over 100 minors in Geology, and over 120 graduate students in our Master of Science (MS), Master of Applied Geography (MAG), and PhD programs in geography, geographic education, and geographic information science.
