UPDATE 1/24:

Dean Goddard sent this email to CLAS faculty and staff:

As part of our new process of appointing Associate Deans in the CLAS Dean's Office, we will be conducting internal collegiate searches beginning in February for the following positions:

  • Associate Dean for Research
  • Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education

The Associate Deans currently in those positions have done outstanding work and will have the opportunity to reapply for the positions.

These searches reflect a new process for selecting the faculty leadership for our college. Associate Deans will be hired for an initial five-year, at-will appointment and, upon successful review and approval of the Dean, an additional three-year appointment. At the end of the two appointments, the position will automatically become open, and the current AD will have the opportunity to reapply. The reason for this change is to ensure that as the college's needs change over time, we are matching the optimal personnel to the position.

The searches will be conducted by two separate committees, each comprising 6-10 individuals representing multiple perspectives from across the college. We are seeking volunteers for the search committees. If you would like to be considered for service on one of the committees, please use this form. We will accept search-committee self-nominations until end of day on Friday, January 31.

As with the previous Associate Dean searches, the search committees will host open forums for the candidates and will welcome feedback from faculty, staff, and students.

We will provide updates on the searches, including the composition of the search committees and open forum/feedback opportunities, on the Driving Excellence and Impact website.

Thank you.
