Psych Prof Ed Wasserman to be president of American Psychological Association's Behavior Analysis division

Psychological & Brain Sciences Professor Ed Wasserman has been chosen as President-Elect of American Psychological Association (APA) Division 25 (Behavior Analysis). He will serve as President from 2017-2018.

The APA is the world’s largest association of psychologists, and exists to “advance the creation, communication, and application of psychological knowledge to benefit society and improve people’s lives,” according to its website.

Wasserman is the Stuit Professor of Experimental Psychology in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences, part of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. He has previously served as President of APA Division 3 (Society for Experimental Psychology and Cognitive Science, 2007-2008) and President of APA Division 6 (Society for Behavioral Neuroscience and Comparative Psychology, 2003-2004).


The University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers about 70 majors across the humanities; fine, performing and literary arts; natural and mathematical sciences; social and behavioral sciences; and communication disciplines. About 15,000 undergraduate and nearly 2,000 graduate students study each year in the college’s 37 departments, led by faculty at the forefront of teaching and research in their disciplines. The college teaches all Iowa undergraduates through the college's general education program, CLAS CORE. About 80 percent of all Iowa undergraduates begin their academic journey in CLAS. The college confers about 60 percent of the university's bachelor's degrees each academic year.
