DEFINITION AND DUTIES
Under supervision, performs basic tasks to ensure complete and accurate database development, research, documentation, and map production for the growth of the County GIS.
Knowledge of & Ability to:

GIS software
English language to include grammar, spelling, sentence structure, vocabulary, punctuation and proofreading skills
Ability to:
Perform duties and represent Johnson County in a professional, responsible, and trustworthy manner
Learn, apply, and articulate departmental policies and procedures
Perform tasks with a moderate degree of speed and accuracy
Use a computer for the purpose of data entry, database management, spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, email, and Internet
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and members of the public
Interact effectively with persons from widely divergent backgrounds, interests, and points of view
Operate common office equipment such as, calculators, fax and postage machines, photocopiers, and multi-line telephones
Handle low to moderate levels of stress, meet deadlines and solve problems appropriate to the position

Have clarity of speech and hearing which permits effective communication
Have sufficient vision which permits light to moderate production and review a wide variety of materials both in hardcopy and electronic form

Stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch and squat and reach

Minimum Education, Training and Experience & Special Requirements:
High school graduate (or equivalent) OR any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities. GIS coursework preferred.

Assist members of the public with real estate inquiries in person, on the telephone, and by mail.
Maintain an up-to-date paper record of real estate transactions in plat books and other methods as may be deemed necessary for indexing.
Enter data to update computerized transfer book application in accordance with documents submitted to the Auditor's Office.
Produce maps and plats using ArcMap software.
Perform general clerical duties such as photocopying, filing, faxing, typing and completing forms.
Work on special projects such as election maps as assigned.
May be asked to perform a variety of tasks that are necessary for the facilitation of an election in accordance with Iowa law.
Participate in training/educational opportunities and work-related meetings as required.
Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with County policies, procedures, and safety practices.
Attend work regularly at the designated place and time.
