GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) WORKER
LINN COUNTY INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (it) DEPARTMENT/GIS
Temporary position (for a period not to exceed 75 working days) to create and update ArcMap documents intended to be used for publishing maps. Create, collect and update GIS data layers and their associated databases within and using the Linn County Geographic Information System (GIS). Operates GIS, mobile map data collection and performs routine work. Assist with the creation and update of documentation of data and for services. Works accurately and pays attention to detail while working with documents and information. Performs all other related duties as assigned. Work is performed under general supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS: Two (2) semesters of college level introductory and intermediate GIS course work or one (1) year of experience working within a GIS environment required or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job. Working knowledge of the operation, care and maintenance of a Geographic Information System (GIS) and relational geo-spatial data. Ability to reason and think logically. Ability to perform arithmetic, algebraic and geometric calculations. Ability to understand and follow oral and written procedures and instructions. Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required. Must pass a County physical examination, which includes a drug test after offer of employment. Regular work attendance required.
SHIFT: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday
SALARY: $10.00 - $12.00/hour based on education and experience
