April 6, 2023 - 12:00am to 11:45pm

Writing Fellow Eleanor Hildebrandt has won a Fulbright Award to be an English Teaching Assistant in Germany. Eleanor worked as a Writing Fellow for three semesters providing writing support and instruction to students in Global Migration (Anthropology), the History of Slavery (History), and Interpretation of Literature (English).

In May 2023, Eleanor will receive a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication and a BS in Global Health Studies, along with a minor in German. She was inspired to apply for the Fulbright by her interest in German studies and by her work as a Writing Fellow. In an interview with Ben Partridge of International Programs, she notes, "I worked as an Honors Writing Fellow with students to improve their argumentative writing skills during my junior and senior years. It was there that I learned I wanted to pursue the field of education in some way."  Professor Carol Severino was one of the professors who recommended she apply for the Fulbright. Eleanor's community project in Germany will focus on American literature and storytelling. She intends to pursue a career in journalism and become a professor.
