Summer internship opportunity with NextGen Climate

NextGen Climate is currently seeking highly motivated organizers to join our team in Iowa for the Summer Fellows Program. Fellows will work with Regional Field Directors to gain valuable, first hand experience with climate organizing. Ideal candidates will have a strong desire to learn about issue and community organizing, detail-oriented and an ability to adapt quickly in a fast paced environment.  The statewide program will run from May 25th through August 15th, and will offer full time (40hrs a week) and part time (20hrs a week) opportunities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  “Essential functions” are primarily program duties that incumbents will perform under the direction of the Regional Field Director.

·       Developing a volunteer base in a given geographic area

·       Develop strong campus program to engage students in issue organizing campaign

·       Finding and maintaining relationships with political contacts

·       Responsible for voter contact, volunteer recruitment, and event management

 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

·       Excellent organizational skills

·       The ability to adapt rapidly to evolving priorities and deadlines

·       Driven with a strong work ethic

·       Ability to work flexible hours

·       Previous climate, energy or environmental issue organizing experience a plus

·       Previous work experience in youth and student organizing a plus
