The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences will again hold two spring commencement ceremonies in May 2016. The first ceremony will be held at 9:00 a.m. and the second at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Graduating students are assigned to a ceremony based on the department of their primary (first) major.

Holding two ceremonies necessitates increased participation from faculty and staff to ensure a memorable occasion for our students, their families and guests. If you are interested in participating in any of the spring commencement ceremonies, please fill out the participation form below.

Commencement Participation Form

Faculty volunteers are needed to participate as part of the platform party during each ceremony. The time commitment is 8 am – 11 am on Saturday, May 14, for the morning ceremony, or or 12 pm – 3 pm for afternoon ceremony. In addition, faculty are needed to serve on the student speaker selection committee during late April and early May. If there are any questions please email Amy Korthank (amy-korthank@uiowa.edu).

Staff volunteers also are needed on the concourse level of the arena prior to the start of each ceremony for program and name card distribution. Time commitment would be 7:45 am – 9:20 am or 11:45 am – 1:20 pm on Saturday, May 14.  If there are any questions please email Jessica Alberhasky (jessica-alberhasky@uiowa.edu).
