Please join us on Wednesday, November 28 for our last Classics Colloquium of the Fall! Christopher-Rasheem McMillan, Assistant Professor of Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies and Dance at the University of Iowa, will be giving a talk titled “Performing Blackness under Roman Occupation: Embodied Resistance and the Empire" at 5:00pm in 40 Schaeffer Hall.

McMillan's talk will focus on examining the embodied connection between citizenship, belonging, and race in both the ancient and contemporary world. This talk weaves together accounts in theology, critical race studies, and classical studies to ask what might vulnerable bodies in antiquity tell us about our contemporary moment.
