What campus organizations and activities are you involved in?
I am a member of AAC (Asian American Coalition), PLS (President Leadership Society), WISE (Women in Science and Engineering), Pre-dental Club, Honors Peer Advising, and DSAC (Dean’s Student Advisory Committee).

Have you studied abroad or held an internship? If so, when and where?
My plan is to study abroad in China or Australia during the summer of my sophomore year.

What have some of your favorite classes been outside of your major? Why?
I haven't taken a lot of classes outside my major, but PLC (President Leadership Class) is my favorite class so far. I really enjoyed it because I was able to interact with all my classmates and instructors. This class also offered me a lot of opportunities to meet different outstanding and remarkable people and be involved on campus.

Have you participated in research projects with faculty members?
I am currently helping Dr. Michelle McQuistan at the dental school with her research study regarding oral health literacy. We want to determine the level of oral health knowledge of patients aged 65+.

Who has been your favorite professor?
My favorite professor is Professor Sarah Larsen. She teaches Principle of Chemistry II. I really enjoy her lectures because she does a fantastic job explaining the different topics. I also like her many small experiments within lectures regarding the topics we are studying.

What advice would you give to a first-year student?
College is a time to meet new people and make long-lasting friendships, but don’t forget your goals and purpose here: to learn and to reach your dreams! My advice would be to learn how to manage your time wisely and focus on your goals.

What are your post-graduation plans?
One of my longtime dreams is to attend the UI College of Dentistry. I have wanted to become a dentist ever since I was little. I was never scared of going to the dentist because I found it really fascinating and interesting. I believe a cheerful smile will always brighten someone’s day!
