BA (1926); served as editor and publisher of the Kewanee Star-Courier for 23 years; founded and directed UI's School of Religion and served as president of its board of trustees; served as national chairman of UI's Arts Center campaign (1964-1966), and president of newspaper syndicate Lee Enterprises (1960-1970); chaired the UI Foundation (1968-1970); received UI's Distinguished Alumni Award for service (1966) and the Hancher-Finkbine Alumni Medallion (1970); the new Adler J-MC Building (2004) is named in his honor.
