A big thank you to the Community Foundation of Johnson County who awarded a $1500 grant to support our outreach program, the Johnson County Community Writing Center. This program provides individualized, quality writing instruction to local residents looking to develop stronger rhetorical and communication skills. We currently offer two hours of free writing assistance at the Iowa City Public Library every Tuesday and Thursday evening, but this grant will allow us to offer additional hours at the Coralville Public Library next semester. The Community Writing Center is a collaboration between the Department of Rhetoric's Writing Center, the Kirkwood Community College Writing Center, and the Iowa City and Coralville Public Libraries.
