Daniel Amodeo

PhD student
MA, Columbia University

Daniel Amodeo works on contemporary Chinese religio-political engagements. He is also interested in social scientific and critical theories broadly. His work focuses on post-dynastic Chinese religious policy, the processes of Chinese modernization, religious hegemony and the importation of the category of 'religion' to China. He hopes to adopt an approach patterned after critical race and gender theories that places religious identity in the realm of identity politics to affect positive political change. Daniel Amodeo is a first year PhD student with an MA from Columbia University.
