Mic & Camera Setup for MMS
- Attach tripod plate to camera.
- Clamp the camera to the tripod.
- Attach shoe mount to the H4N.
- Mount H4N on the camera.
- Be sure that the equipment is secure.
- Connect the splitter cable to the H4N line-in.
- Connect the mini cable to one end of the splitter.
- Connect the other end of the mini cable to the camera mic-in.
- Connect headphones to the open end of the splitter.
- Use headphones to monitor your audio.
- Connect XLR cable to H4N.
- Either input 1 or 2 will do.
- Connect the Lavalier mic to the XLR cable.
- Give this to your interviewee/talent.
Now everything is Setup!
There are a few settings that need to be changed on the equipment before the recording!
- On the H4N go to: menu > input > phantom, Select +24V.
- Select mic input 1/2 on H4N.
- Press record to enter standby mode. You should be able to hear audio now.
- Adjust rec level accordingly.
- Set volume to "55"!
- On camera: menu > sound recording > rec. level.
- Move the slider all the way to the left! Then move it 1 tick to the right.
- Now you are ready to shoot video. Have fun!
