Rachel Joselson sings at UN Holocaust Memorial Ceremony in New York

Rachel JoselsonAssociate Professor of Voice Rachel Joselson sang at the United Nations Holocaust Memorial Ceremony on January 27, on the occasion of the International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

The ceremony was hosted by Ms. Cristina Gallach, Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information, and featured United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres; H. E. Mr. Peter Thomson, President of the seventy-first session of the General Assembly; H.E. Mr. Danny Danon, Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations; H.E. Ms. Michele J. Sison, United States Deputy Representative to the United Nations. Mr. Noah Klieger was keynote speaker. Cantor Israel Singer recited the memorial prayers, and accompanied on violin by Artur Kaganovskiy.

Joselson sang from her recent CD, "Songs of the Holocaust."

The University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences offers about 70 majors across the humanities; fine, performing and literary arts; natural and mathematical sciences; social and behavioral sciences; and communication disciplines. About 15,000 undergraduate and nearly 2,000 graduate students study each year in the college’s 37 departments, led by faculty at the forefront of teaching and research in their disciplines.
