Nominations are now being accepted for three important staff recognition awards. A ribbon

Faculty, staff, and students are invited to submit nominations for the first-ever CLAS Staff DEI Award, CLAS Leadership Award, and Mary Louise Kelley Staff Excellence Award. 

Honorees for the DEI and Leadership awards will each receive a $500 stipend. All award recipients will be recognized during the Staff Award Ceremony and Celebration on June 15, 2023, at the Iowa Memorial Union. 

Nominations are due by April 17, 2023.


Nominate a CLAS staff member 

CLAS Staff DEI Award

This award recognizes staff whose work in the college or community has advanced the mission of diversity, equity, and inclusion. All CLAS staff—professional and scientific, merit, full-time, and part-time employees—are eligible for the award. For questions, email clas-dei@uiowa.edu

CLAS Leadership Award 

This award recognizes staff in the college who exhibited exceptional leadership qualities and positively impacted individuals, departments, or the college. All permanent full-time and part-time (50% or more) professional and scientific, merit exempt, and merit staff employed in the college eligible for this award. Nominations will be evaluated with respect to the award criteria by members of the CLAS staff recognition committee and the dean. More than one award in each category may be distributed by the committee each year.

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Iowa is a comprehensive college offering 73 majors in the humanities; fine, performing and literary arts; natural and mathematical sciences; social and behavioral sciences; and communication disciplines. More than 17,000 undergraduate and 1,900 graduate students study each year in the college’s 37 departments, led by professors at the forefront of teaching and research in their disciplines. The college teaches all UI undergraduates through the General Education Program, and confers about 70 percent of the UI's bachelor's degrees each academic year.
