University of Iowa Professor Dan Matheson served as a panelist at the St. Ambrose University Sport Management Conference, “Buzz into the Sport Industry,” on Nov. 10.  Fellow panelists included Mike Zapolski (Director of Athletics, Augustana College); Tyler Gilles (Director of Sales, Quad City Mallards); and Lynn Hunt (VP of Sales, Quad Cities Convention & Visitors Bureau). The panelists discussed their career paths, advice for students, and thoughts on various sport industry trends, and answered several audience questions.

Once the panel concluded Matheson visited one-on-one with students to answer specific questions about the sport industry and the Iowa Master's program in Sport Management. It was a night of mentoring, networking and outreach that helped build relationships and opportunities for future collaboration between the Sport Management programs at the UI and St. Ambrose.

Matheson is a lecturer and the director of Sport & Recreation Management Program within the Department of Health & Human Physiology, part of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.
