IS:3012 Students Collaborating with the Newly-Opened International Rescue Committee Office in Iowa City

The International Rescue Committee, a global organization that rehomes refugees, is helping settle around 100 refugees in Iowa City over the next couple of months after opening an Iowa City office late last year. In efforts to assist unaccompanied minors who are refugees, the International Rescue Committee will launch a new program aimed at these individuals to get documentation and connect with a guardian, Terlouw said. The program will start March 1.

International Studies Major Camry Pritchard awarded Gilman Scholarship to study in Korea in Summer 2024

Camry Pritchard is a fourth-year international studies major from Bettendorf, Iowa. In addition to a Gilman Scholarship, she is also the recipient of a Critical Language Scholarship. She will be studying abroad this summer in South Korea on the TEAN Korea summer program. IS Professor Ari Ariel quoted in Le Monde on the Israel-Hamas War and food boycotts

University of Iowa Professor Ari Ariel (International Studies) was quoted in the article La Guerre Israël-Hamas Dans Les Assiettes in the French newspaper Le Monde. The article discusses how the Palestinian cause has been realized in the United States via food boycotts and by chefs promoting Palestinian cuisine to speak out against its erasure.
