Every staff position in the College needs a local job description. Follow the Guide to Creating a Local Job Description instructions. This site provides a link to the Local Job Description Template. CLAS requires this form for establishing all new P&S positions. Information regarding job function, family and classification for P&S positions can be reviewed at Your Work, Your Pay, Your Career.

Merit job descriptions should be consistent in format with the University's Merit standard description for the position classification. Individual job descriptions should be more detailed and customized to the specific position than the generic University job description. Merit job descriptions can be reviewed at Merit classification and codes.

Please reference P&S Education and Experience Advertising Guidelines for appropriate degree and experience requirements normally expected for the position.

Following are the position expectations required as part of all staff job descriptions in CLAS.

Collaboration and Embracing Diversity:
Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals from varied cultures, nationalities, genders, ages, etc.

Positive Impact/Achieving Results:
Ability to utilize existing resources and learning to achieve or exceed desired outcomes of current and future organizational goals/needs. Able to demonstrate ethical behavior in diverse situations while producing results.

Service Excellence/Customer Focus:
Ability to meet or exceed customer service needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner. Ability to effectively transmit and interpret information through appropriate communication with internal and external customers.
