Growing up in southeast Iowa, being a Hawkeye and going to the University of Iowa was always my plan. I graduated from Iowa with a B.S. in Therapeutic Rec. Following College, I relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah for a short time, but returned to Iowa for work in 1988. I worked at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for 15 ½ years before transferring to the History Department in 2003. Moving to the “other side of the river” has proven to be fulfilling and challenging, without the daily life or death experiences of the hospital setting. In History, I started as the graduate program coordinator, and after 7 years promoted to the role of departmental administrator in 2010. Although my career path hasn’t followed what I expected after graduation, it has allowed me to be part of great community and work environment.
