Caroline earned her PhD in history with a graduate certificate in Gender, Women's, and Sexuality Studies in May 2019. She wrote her dissertation on same-sex desiring individuals’ uses of history to construct transnational and transhistorical sexual subjectivities in late nineteenth and early twentieth-century. This research was supported by the The Mellon Foundation, The Council on Library and Information Resources, the AAUW, and the University of Iowa. Caroline teaches courses in American history, queer history, transnational sexualities, women's and gender history, and feminist history. In addition to her research, Caroline serves as the review editor for the American Historical Association's Committee on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender History.
