The Office of Field Experience is actively engaged in recruiting experiential learning partners. As positions become known, links to information about available opportunities will be posted here. They could be volunteer positions, part-time, seasonal or full-time positions. Please read closely and apply to positions based on your mix of needs regarding credit, experience and compensation. It is important to remember that semester hour credit is not automatically granted for experiential learning. You must register for SRM:4197:0006, :0012 or :0EXW (Sport and Recreation Field Experience) and fulfill the requirements for the course and credits. Columbus Blue Jackets are hiring a FT Ticket Operations Coordinator. This is not an internship.
NFL Films has announced acceptance for Spring 2019 Internships. These would be well suited for students double-majoring in communications/broadcasting. Applications due October 12, 2018.
KemperLesnik, Chicago, IL, is seeking applications for Sports Marketing and Events Interns. The internship is designed to expose highly-motivated interns to all aspects of several premier athletic events. Areas of experience will include sponsorship sales and fulfillment, ticket marketing, sales and fulfillment, media relations, hospitality, communications with participants and event operations. Iowa Wolves are hiring for gameday, part-time and office positions running October - April. Positions are paid and include parking and apparel. Available positions include Fan Host, Hype Pack, Game Presentation Assistant, (all with multiple openings) and Graphic Design/Animation Assistant. - Green Bay Bullfrogs (one of the four teams owned by Big Top Baseball) have internships in marketing, event management, hospitality, video webcast & graphics, ticketing & sales, clubhouse & turf management. All interns receive a travel and housing stipend.
Fifth Ward Saints North provides outreach to at-risk students in Iowa City through athletic, academic and social service programs. They are currently seeking a Sports Program Intern as well as Volunteer mentors, tutors and coaches. Volunteer positions do not earn credit but gain perspective & experience.
Tempe Diablo Stadium, home to the Arizona Cactus League and Angel Baseball spring training facility is accepting applications for their 2019 Internship, which aligns with the spring semester. IMG College, a national collegeiate sports marketing company, regularly posts opportunities for open positions (mostly FT jobs) across the United States in every facet of marketing and ticket sales.
Iowa Parks & Recreation posts internships from member cities around the state. Some positions posted here may not qualify for credit so double check with the Office of Field Experience before assuming it counts.
Colorado Spring Sports Corp is offering a summer Communications/Sports Marketing Internship. Primary focus will include work on the Rocky Mountain State Games, an event lasting two weeks that attracts more than 10,000 athletes competing in more than 35 different sports. Midwest Sports Productions, based in Kansas City, touts themselves as the powerhouse for youth fastpitch softball & baseball tournaments in the Midwest. Kaylyn Thorne, UISRM '17 alumna, and current Marketing/Communications Supervisor and Internship Coordinator, interned with them during her final summer as an undergrad.
