The Office of Field Experience is actively engaged in recruiting experiential learning partners. As positions become known, links to information about available opportunities will be posted here. They could be volunteer positions, part-time, seasonal or full-time positions. Please read closely and apply to positions based on your mix of needs regarding credit, experience and compensation. Check back often as updates and new positions are added regularly. It is important to remember that semester hour credit is not automatically granted for experiential learning. You must register for SRM:4196 (Interscholastic Internship) or SRM:4199 (Independent Field Experience) and fulfill the requirements for the course and credits. Contact Anna Jensen, Director, Office of Field Experience, with any questions.

Several local positions are currently posted on Teamwork Online in the Cedar Rapids, Dubuque and Des Moines areas. These positions are across a wide range of areas within the industry including scouting, business development, social media, and analytics. FT and Internships: The Cedar Rapids Kernels are preparing for a robust summer of baseball and are building out their staff now! Full time positions include Corporate Sales Manager, Group Outing Manager, Marketing and Entertainment Manager, Ticket Office Manager. If you're seeking a summer internship, they have those, too! These include Game Day Tickets, Group Sales, Marketing and Sales, Stadium Operations. All positions are highly competitive so don't delay and apply now! FT: Due in part to the success of the internship program established with RedZone Football for several years, they are expanding and offering their first full-time position as General Manager / Executive Assistant. Ideally, this is a December or earlier graduate who could start in January 2022. Check out the details here

Internships: Summer 2022 Marketing and Operations Internships open now with the Des Moines Menace! Both paid, full-time internships and part-time game-day options are available. Alumna Sydney Tatum is the Soccer Operations Manager and herself, former intern so the position certainly provides a great experience upon which to build a career! 

Remote Internships with SponsorUnited. They are a sports marketing agency used by many professional teams for prospecting, ideation, finding decision makers and connecting brands with teams and/or talent. Internships will run from January through May and require 15 hours/week. Learn more about the opportunity and how to apply here

PT: Spectra and Xtream Arena are hiring for part time Guest Services roles. Scheduling is flexible and perks like meal vouchers on full event days, referral bonuses and more. Contact Elizabeth Jones for more information. These positions do not qualify for credit as written but can be modified if credit is necessary. 

FT: Grandview, MO (southern suburb of Kansas City) is hiring a Recreation Coordinator. Details available here

PT: North Liberty Parks and Recreation is seeking officials for youth recreation leagues. This would NOT qualify for credit but is a great way for students looking to learn/practice skills while earning funds and helping your local community (about 15 minutes north of Iowa City.) Times are varied and pay ranges from $15/game (recreation) to $25/game (competitive leagues). January - March. Contact Brian Motley, Assistant Recreation Director for more info. 

FT: Iowa City Parks and Recreation is hiring a full time Recreation Assistant. Application deadline is Monday, November 8th. (Annual salary range ~ $42K to $55K)

Internships: Red Zone Football Academy, located in North Liberty, IA, has several Spring 2022 Internships available in Coaching (3) and in Marketing and Creative Team (1). All positions provide a $500 stipend and great experiences with mentor oversight from Iowa Alumnus and business owner, Tyler Blum. Internships: The Indianapolis Indians are currently accepting applications of qualified candidates interested in pursuing a career in sports.  Each year the Indians look to fill 14 full time internships.  This program is a great experience for anyone passionate about working in the sports industry.  The Indians provide monthly compensation and additional benefits. Indians Employment

Internships: Illinois Junior Golf Association is accepting applications for hteir Summer Tournament Coordinator position. This 3-month internship is based out of Lamont, IL with travel around the Chicagoland area and into Indiana and Wisconsin. You can see full description and requirements here

Internships: Iowa PGA is seeking 2 - 4 full time, paid interns for Summer 2022. The office is approximately 20 miles south of Iowa City in Riverside, IA The opportunity is focused around Iowa PGA Junior Golf and Professional Tournament programs. This includes tournament operations, customer service, administrative duties, Drive, Chip, and Putt events, Junior League, and Junior Golf events. Internships: American Junior Golf Association is accepting applicatons for their Summer Internship Program: Communications Intern (social media, photography, video, blogs, website stories, local media liaison, officiates on-course communications); Operations Intern (tournament setup and equipment inventory, customer service, starting & scoring players, operates and maintains company vehicles). PT: Both Borlaug and Wickham Before/After School Programs are hiring Youth Counselors. This is a paid position that could be used for credit with additional project work added. Position includes working with K-6 grade, supervising and assisting with homework, arts and crafts, interacting and playing games such as dodgeball, capture the flag, four square, volleyball and more. This is a great experience for future careers related to coaching, education, youth development, recreation and more. More details and to apply, click here

Special Events: NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) will host the Men's and Women's Basketball National Championship in Kansas City, MO. This 10-day engagement could qualify for independent field experience credit as students will have a full range of high-level event exposure from venue preparation through in-game promotions and sponsorship activation. There are separate teams of interns for each, so apply to both, to double your chances! Follow this link for all the benefits and to apply. Applications will close on December 17, 2021. 

Internships: Representatives from the Iowa Cubs kicked off their summer 2022 hiring season with UISRM Interviews! If you weren't able to participate in that event, you can still apply directly by emailing your resume and a cover letter related to your preferred position to Andrew Quillin (for Stadium Operations) or Clayton Grandquist (all other positions.) 

Stadium Operations: Assist with all aspects of facility operations and facility management with Iowa Cubs baseball games as well as outside events such as high school games and non-profit events at Principal Park. Participate in game-day activities, specifically on-field promotions and the set up of client-sponsored promotions. Provide daily housekeeping and maintenance in the stadium, offices, skyboxes and restaurant. Assist in the operation of the team mascot Cubbie Bear as well as game-day event staff such as parking attendants, ushers, security, 50/50 Raffle and first aid. Interns must be willing to work long, non-traditional hours including weekends and holidays. Employment opportunity runs from March through October with some flexibility around school schedules.

Group Ticket Sales: Group ticket sales interns will assist in all aspects of group sales which will include, but are not limited to, selling of tickets to customers in need of 25+ tickets, selling picnic and birthday packages and working with our concessionaire to ensure the picnic order is correct for that day's game. Develop and market group sales, assist in game-day duties, fill in at ticket windows during walk-up, and any other duties that may arise. 

Ticket Operations: Process all walk-up, internet and phone ticket orders, exchanges, and other transactions. Provide customer service in all areas and answer questions from ticket holders regarding ticket policy, digital ticketing issues, game schedule, and promotions. Develop and market group ticket and skybox sales. Assist with game-day duties including event setup and in-game promotions. Provide assistance for birthday parties, special projects, and theme nights as needed. Interns will develop an understanding of ticketing systems, digital ticketing, ticketing strategy and policies, and customer service.

Skyboxes: The skybox sales intern will assist in all aspects of luxury suite sales which includes, but is not limited to, the process of renting of skyboxes to customers, working with our concessionaire to ensure the catering orders are in, and selling Budweiser Club tables. Develop and market skybox sales. Coordinate setup of all skyboxes for each game, as well as assist in other game-day duties, fill in at ticket windows during walk-up, and any other duties that may arise. Provide customer service in all areas.

Internship: Liberty Lightning Volleyball Club (North Liberty) is looking for additional youth coaches for the 2021-2022 club season. More details regarding this paid opportunity can be found HERE

PT: The Iowa City Eels is a nonprofit, year-round USA Swimming affiliated club serving developmental and competitive swimmers of all ages from all over Johnson County. They are looking to hire part-time staff who are energetic & motivated with weeknight availability for the Fall and Spring season. No serious knowledge of the sport or club swimming is required. Internship: Keith Duncan Kicking is seeking someone talented in graphic design skills to establish and grow social media marketing. Role would include developing promotions, marketing and other duties relevant to the still growing startup based in Des Moines, IA. Intern could be remote. PT: Regina High School (Iowa City) is seeking sport announcers immediately for football and volleyball. Basketball, wrestling and spring sports will also be opportunities. Read more about qualifications HERE and reach out to Tim Foley, Regina AD, with questions / interest. 

Internships: The Iowa Games are accepting applications for internships now through December 1, 2021 for multiple positions including event management and marketing with a variety of start dates and locations in central and eastern Iowa. All the details can be found HERE. Internships come with monthly stipend and other benefits. Three UISRM students were interns for Summer 2021. 

Internship: Looking for a paid internship in the sports industry that gives you the opportunity to travel, build network connections, and gain valuable experience to push your career forward? The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) is accepting applications for two positions in their Internship program for Spring or Summer 2022: Communications and Operations. Applications deadlines are: 10/15/2021 for Spring; 1/7/2022 for Summer.

PT: North Liberty Recreation has part-time positions open. Not all would qualify for credit as written but could be modified if credit is required. Alternatively, this could be a great way to earn extra cash related to your major. 

Internships: Coralville Parks and Recreation has a wide variety of internships available to students based on you career interests and professional development needs. Areas include aquatics, youth programming, parks/sports/golf maintenance, performing arts center and more. All details and how to apply can be found at this link

Internships and PT: The Iowa Heartlanders, Iowa's newest professional hockey team will begin their inaugural season in October 2021. They are seeking both Community Relations/Events Interns and and Game Operations Interns to begin immediately. Click on the above links for details. These could qualify for credit for the spring semester and some positions are paid. 

Remote Internships: The Sports Marketer is seeking an intern working on all aspects of a sponsorship consulting agency. Internships: Join UISRM Alumnus Ryan Kearney in an internship with the Cedar Rapids Roughriders. In this role, you'll get experience in game day operations, fan relations, in-game entertainment and more. Volunteer: Do you want to find connection while making a difference? Girls on the Run of Eastern Iowa is excited to offer programming at many sites in the Iowa City area, including Mann, Weber, Twain, Lucas, Mercer Park, and more! In order to ensure we can serve as many girls as possible, we need volunteer coaches of any gender identity to join us in our mission! You'll be provided with everything you need to transform the lives of girls during a critical stage in their adolescence. 94% of coaches said they felt like girls became more confident after participating in Girls on the Run. Internships: Diamond Dreams, provides elite sports instruction to youth athletes seeking to move to the next level. They are located in a new facility designed and built specific to their needs in North Liberty, IA. This is an excellent opportunity for a wide range of future professions including communications, events, coaching, analytics, etc. All the details, including how to apply are here

Internships: The Pro-Fit Gym is continuing their internship program into Fall 2021.  They have invested a lot of money this past year in gym equipment and expansion ($80K+). Additionally, they have invested over $10k in sports technology which helps them gather data and make informed training decisions.  Pro-Fit interns will be learning a great deal, being on the cutting edge of data analytics while gaining great experience. Internships: Iowa / USA Wrestling is seeking an intern to report to the Social Media Director. This position could be remote but intern should have some wrestling knowledge and be willing to learn more about the sport while developing engaging content. Internships: Kansas City Sports Commission is has internships available in every semester in a range of areas including Events, Marketing, and Graphic Design. Spring - apply October 15 to November 1; Summer - apply February 15 to March 1; Fall - apply June 15 - July 15. 

Internship: Intern in Alaska in Parks and Recreation! Bristol Bay Borough has internships year-round and is currently accepting applications for Spring and Summer 2022. This is a paid internship and they even provide for your transportation and to/from Bristol Bay. What an adventure for the outdoor park enthusiast! Brian Froelich (BS '18) spent 4 months in Bristol Bay immediately following graduation and would be happy to field any questions you might have related to the position. 

Internships: Colorado Springs Sports Corporation has Event Management Internships available. Applications will close as soon as suitable candidates are identified. The Sports Corp is a 501(c)3 non-profit professional event management company based in Colorado Springs, CO. Their annual events attract more than 250,000 people, utilize more than 1,900 volunteers and engage 15,000 competitors.
