The Office of Field Experience is actively engaged in recruiting experiential learning partners. As positions become known, links to information about available opportunities will be posted here. They could be volunteer positions, part-time, seasonal or full-time positions. Please read closely and apply to positions based on your mix of needs regarding credit, experience and compensation. Check back often as updates and new positions are added regularly. It is important to remember that semester hour credit is not automatically granted for experiential learning. You must register for SRM:4196 (Interscholastic Internship) or SRM:4199 (Independent Field Experience) and fulfill the requirements for the course and credits. Contact Anna Jensen, Director, Office of Field Experience, with any questions.

Teamwork Online - UISRM students have access to premium content for free. Thousands of jobs across minor and major league sports! Updated continually. 

Several local positions are currently posted on Teamwork Online in the Cedar Rapids, Dubuque and Des Moines areas. These positions are across a wide range of areas within the industry including scouting, business development, social media, and analytics. Internships with SWARM, a new Iowa NIL collective, launched in mid-July.  They have two areas of support that will allow you to gain experience to set yourself apart from the crowd.  Internships are available in Events and Engagement or Marketing and Social Media. Click on the respective links to learn about each opportunity and follow application instructions. Limited number of stipends available. Mid-August start dates. 

Intern with RedZone Football Academy in the League Operations Intern role Fall 2022! This will be the flag football organization's 10th season developing local talent among 700+ participants on more than 50 different teams. The league hosts 25 games/week over three nights in several different sites. Stipend is provided and students interested in events, coaching, operations both on-field and front-office are encouraged to apply. Internships with University of Iowa Trademarks, Licensing and Hall of Fame open immediately and into the 22/23 academic year. Over the years, several UISRM students have begun their professional careers in this office with the mentorship and guidance from Dale Arens and his team. This is an opportunity to learn about collegiate licensing, NIL intersectionality and even some event management. Check out this link for more information or reach out with questions. Paid Internships: Xtream Arena and Greenstate Family Fieldhouse (Oakview Group) is offering academic year-long internships for the first time beginning this Fall 2022! These will include both event and office work associated with each functional area. These will be paid internships. There are also PT positions open if you are looking for industry related PT work (that would not be credit eligilbe). Internships are available in Events, Marketing/Group Sales, Partnerships, Fieldhouse (sales, events, operations) and Box Office. Learn more about all opportunities and how to apply here.

Internships with University of Iowa Baseball: 

If you are interested in the baseball industry and want to work for a Division I athletic program, the University of Iowa Baseball manager program is currently looking to hire new managers that will start in the fall of 2022. The opportunity to work with the Iowa Baseball team is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door of the sports industry, all while helping the Hawks be as successful as possible, with the end goal of winning a Big Ten championship and competing for a chance to play in the College World Series. Past student managers from this program have gone on to work for MLB teams, top private training facilities such as Driveline, and other college baseball teams upon graduation. 

The four departments that are currently accepting applications are on-field, video & scouting, data analyst, and operations assistant. While each of these four departments have their own specific tasks, the collaboration between them is what makes our program special. We are looking to hire individuals who are motivated to develop their skills and gain valuable experience to help them pursue careers in the sports industry, especially in baseball. All of these positions are mainly volunteer positions, however, the experience you will gain and the connections you will make during your time as an Iowa Baseball manager are invaluable.

Contemporary Services Corportation (CSC) has Fall 2022 PAID internships on campus working myriad events. Could start over the summer for the right applicant. Check out this link for all the necessary information. You can also apply via your Teamwork Online profile, if you prefer, at this link

Internships: Kansas City Sports Commission is has internships available in every semester in a range of areas including Events, Marketing, and Graphic Design. Spring - apply October 15 to November 1; Summer - apply February 15 to March 1; Fall - apply June 15 - July 15. 

Hyatt Place Iowa City has developed a new internship in collaboration with our program. You can find all the details on what you'll have the opportunity to learn and demonstrate along with applications instructions at this link. Apply now for Fall 2022. Both 3SH or 6SH options available. 

FT and Internships: Iowa Parks & Recreation posts jobs and internships from member cities around the state. Some positions posted here may not qualify for credit so double check with the Office of Field Experience before assuming it counts.

Internships in Coaching: the newest local partner to join the UISRM cohort of coaching opportunities is Hot Feet Sports, which was founded and is led by Iowa Football alumnus, Trevor Bollers. In these roles, students have the opportunity to hone coaching skills in volleyball, basketball or football. Check out this link for the details on each.  

Remote Internships with SponsorUnited. They are a sports marketing agency used by many professional teams for prospecting, ideation, finding decision makers and connecting brands with teams and/or talent. Learn more about the opportunity and how/when to apply for the upcoming semester here

PT: North Liberty Parks and Recreation is seeking officials for youth recreation leagues. This would NOT qualify for credit but is a great way for students looking to learn/practice skills while earning funds and helping your local community (about 15 minutes north of Iowa City.) Contact Brian Motley, Assistant Recreation Director for more info. 

PT: Both Borlaug and Wickham Before/After School Programs are hiring Youth Counselors. This is a paid position that could be used for credit with additional project work added. Position includes working with K-6 grade, supervising and assisting with homework, arts and crafts, interacting and playing games such as dodgeball, capture the flag, four square, volleyball and more. This is a great experience for future careers related to coaching, education, youth development, recreation and more. More details and to apply, click here

PT: The Iowa City Eels is a nonprofit, year-round USA Swimming affiliated club serving developmental and competitive swimmers of all ages from all over Johnson County. They are looking to hire part-time staff who are energetic & motivated with weeknight availability for the Fall and Spring season. No serious knowledge of the sport or club swimming is required. Remote Internships: The Sports Marketer is seeking an intern working on all aspects of a sponsorship consulting agency. This includes researching/prospecting, data collection, building proposals and outreach. Join this team of young professionals as they are on the precipice of sharp growth. Volunteer: Do you want to find connection while making a difference? Girls on the Run of Eastern Iowa is excited to offer programming at many sites in the Iowa City area, including Mann, Weber, Twain, Lucas, Mercer Park, and more! In order to ensure we can serve as many girls as possible, we need volunteer coaches of any gender identity to join us in our mission! You'll be provided with everything you need to transform the lives of girls during a critical stage in their adolescence. 94% of coaches said they felt like girls became more confident after participating in Girls on the Run. Internships: Diamond Dreams, provides elite sports instruction to youth athletes seeking to move to the next level. They are located in a new facility designed and built specific to their needs in North Liberty, IA. This is an excellent opportunity for a wide range of future professions including communications, events, coaching, analytics, etc. All the details, including how to apply are here

Internships: The Pro-Fit Gym is continuing their internship program.  They have invested a lot of money this past year in gym equipment and expansion ($80K+). Additionally, they have invested over $10k in sports technology which helps them gather data and make informed training decisions.  Pro-Fit interns will be learning a great deal, being on the cutting edge of data analytics while gaining great experience. There are three types of internship positions available: Performance Data Analyst, Public Relations, Fitness Coach. Click on each to learn more. Internships: Iowa / USA Wrestling is seeking an intern to report to the Social Media Director. This position could be remote but intern should have some wrestling knowledge and be willing to learn more about the sport while developing engaging content. Reach out to Anna Jensen if interested so she can put you in touch with the right people. 

Internships: Colorado Springs Sports Corporation has Event Management Internships available. Applications will close as soon as suitable candidates are identified. The Sports Corp is a 501(c)3 non-profit professional event management company based in Colorado Springs, CO. Their annual events attract more than 250,000 people, utilize more than 1,900 volunteers and engage 15,000 competitors.
