The Office of Field Experience is actively engaged in recruiting experiential learning partners. As positions become known, links to information about available opportunities will be posted here. They could be volunteer positions, part-time, seasonal or full-time positions. Please read closely and apply to positions based on your mix of needs regarding credit, experience and compensation. It is important to remember that semester hour credit is not automatically granted for experiential learning. You must register for SRM:4196 (Interscholastic Internship) or SRM:4199 (Independent Field Experience) and fulfill the requirements for the course and credits. Paid Fall 2021 Internship: Event Management working with University of Iowa Athletics through Contemporary Services Corporation. With the announcement of a full stadium and alcohol sales in Kinnick, CSC Iowa City is looking for interns to help with the 2021 Hawkeye Football season. Throughout this position the interns will have a first hand look at the 'behind the scenes' operations, help with logistical aspects for prepping for the season, get to manage staff (increasing their leadership and management experience), and the possibility to run Winter events like Women's basketball. The ProFit Gym has some great summer opportunities! They have invested a lot of money this past year in gym equipment and expansion ($80K+). Additionally, they have invested over $10k in sports technology which helps them gather data and make informed training decisions. Pro-Fit interns will be learning a great deal, being on the cutting edge of data analytics while gaining great experience. This position could be remote but intern should have some wrestling knowledge and be willing to learn more about the sport while developing engaging content. The NAIA has recently opened their Eligiblity Center Seasonal Positions for 2021-2022. These are paid positions with varying start/end dates form May through February, located in Kansas City, MO. Another option with the City of Des Moines is their Park an Recreation Associate position. This position works with our athletics team mainly, assisting patrons, assisting staff with the facilitation of scheduled programs and events including set-ups, tear downs, monitoring patron activity and general maintenance duties. Kansas City Sports Commission is has internships available in every semester in a range of areas including Events, Marketing, and Graphic Design. Spring - apply October 15 to November 1; Summer - apply February 15 to March 1; Fall - apply June 15 - July 15.

The City of Mason City, IA is seeking a Recreation Intern for summer 2021. The Intern will provide overall assistance to the recreation staff regarding the planning, coordinating, and administering of the recreation programs. This will include childcare programs, aquatic center, youth sports, and adult sports. This internship is not a permanent position and will run from May 2021 to August 2021.
