GWSS Professor Naomi Greyser led a workshop for SAPP (Student Advocates for Planned Parenthood) during which they discussed the history of sex ed in American culture, sexual health equity initiatives today, and fantasies we each might have for sex education moving into the future. Professor Greyser screened clips from Netflix’s Sex Education as well as The Sex Ed’s podcast interview with Dr Joycelyn Elders, surgeon general of the United States from 1993-94 and self-annointed “condom queen.” There was also paper, glue, scissors and markers for making sex positive valentines ahead of the Valentine's Day holiday.

Dr. Naomi Greyser is associate professor of American Studies, English and Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies, as well as executive director of POROI, Iowa’s Project on Rhetoric of Inquiry. Prof. Greyser’s teaching and research focus on the body and the senses, intersectional feminism, and the emotional dimensions of human expression. In addition to teaching classes on sex and pop culture, love and romance in America, and creativity and the writing process, Naomi loves to spend time snuggling her dog, watching TV with her teenage daughter, and cooking for fun (on weekends!)
