Under the supervision of the City of Goshen Stormwater Department, the GIS Technician will
assist with geo-spatial data collection, organization, and analysis as well as perform other work
needed by the department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties are normal for this position. They are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

Organize, record, update, and ground-truth stormwater and other relevant utility
infrastructure data using ESRI’s ArcGIS systems.

Perform field work to gather GPS and other attribute data.

Practice excellent organization in maintaining data documentation.

Prepare written reports, maps, diagrams, etc.

Coordinate activities with the Stormwater Department and GIS Coordinator.

Interact with the public while out in the field collecting data.

Perform other essential duties as required.

Minimum Training and Experience Required:

High school diploma, or equivalency; prior related work experience; or any equivalent
combination of education, training and experience which provides necessary knowledge, skills
and abilities.

Ability to execute work-flows using ESRI’s GIS software, applications and other programs.
Preferred GIS Skills and Knowledge:

Experience with the following ESRI programs: ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, Field
Maps, and other ESRI applications as needed.

Field experience with GPS data entry.

Multiple college-level courses in GIS.

Special Requirements:

Minimum 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule when field activities warrant it.

Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).

Minimum Physical and Mental Abilities Required:

Ability to utilize departmental equipment and tools including computers, vehicles, GIS
software, GPS units, etc.

Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.

Ability to exert physical effort to walk on flat to uneven surfaces.

Ability to exert physical effort in sedentary to light work involving routine stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.

Mathematical Ability:

Ability to add, to subtract, multiply, divide, calculate decimals and percentages, calculate area,
calculate volume, and accurately measure with tape, wheel and other devices.
Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication:

Ability to accurately record and deliver information, meet deadlines, and maintain
confidentiality of restricted information.

Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, other City personnel, and
general public verbally and in writing.

Environmental Adaptability:
Ability to work effectively in an office and field environment.

Rate of Pay:
$13.00 - $15.00/hour
